chrome bumper vert in near future.
Well as a few of you know I had sold my '78 a couple of months ago and had hoped to get a chrome bumper... Well my waiting has paid off.
I had asked a few questions on this '68 convertible a few months ago, which at that point the guy was asking $8000.00. I had thought about it and realized that it may had been a little to high seeming that it would not start, needed a full strip and paint.. along with interior work..so I kind of passed on it and went on my merry way... Well I get a call from him the other day and he ask's if I was still interested in the car, but I told him his asking price was a liitle too high for the work that it needed, as well as not running... he told me that he was willing to negotiate on the price, and he did get it to run with a new battery and some tinkering..So I meet with him again and take a look at the car, it does run and drive, May need a tune up to get it to run better, but probably better off rebuilding the motor...or even dropping in crate motor. Not too sure on this seeming this is all original.. he is the second owner, but in the same family... It is amazing that there is little to no rust on this, frame is solid and birdcage shows no signs of rust.. I noticed that the gas tank has a leak, It's missing the rear window for the convertible top. wiper door works but headlights don't..
Well after talking to him for a while, he says I can have it for $4000.00
Well I know at this point I better jump on this... There is just some paperwork that needs to be done to get it titled in my name, then it's all mine... here is a couple of pics I took today.. Time for me to spend more time on here to ask I know a lot of questions on this... STW

I have a quick question to start this off. I noticed that it was leaking gas from the tank when he had it running the other day, I went back today and didn't see anything leaking, could it be leaking from the fuel lines and not the tank? since the pump is pulling gas and that's when it starts to leak..Old brittle hoses??? I don't want this catching on fire before I can do anything with it...
Yup. Most likely your hose from the fuel-return pipe to the tank. You MUST replace before driving! It will drip directly on the right exhaust pipe. This will be your first love-hate experience with your Vette, because it is a pain to replace... You will need to jack it and remove the right rear wheel. I spent hours with my arm jammed, trying to tighten the hose clamp. Buy an assembly manual, to see what you need to replace (page k212). If you do have a rotten hose, I would consider changing all rubber fuel hoses. When I changed mine, I also opted to use a Russell braided hose, fuel filter and chrome hard-line from the fuel pump to the carb. That is another bad place to have a fuel leak. Looks like a great deal on the car!
