Default This is just too hot

Phoenix hit a record 118 degrees yesterday, and a record 116 today. I'm a "hostage" in my house, too hot to do anything. My pool is at 95 degrees (more like a hot tub), so even that won't help right now Can't wait for winter so I can get back in the garage

You might consider moving to Austin, Texas. We have a cool front coming in today, tomorrows high will be about 94*.

Want to trade for flooding rains in New Jersey? My basement took on about 3 inches of water in under 1 hour just this afternoon.

sounds like you need to buy a couple of 100 lb blocks of ice
and drop them in the pool like they do for the polar bears
here at the philly zoo

120 here today and tomorrow. Crank up the AC and stock your house with cold drinks and fun activities (preferably a pool table and hot bit.... umm... ladies).

The Wife, Daughter, and I are going out to Phoenix/Scottsdale area in the middle of August. We are considering a transfer to the area next year. We like the looks of Chandler as well as Cave Creek.
Any suggestions while we are there. Especially an area where we can get an acre or two in a new development with Mountain views? Need a minimum 3 car garage and 3,000 sq. foot home.
Thanks

Remember this in the dead of winter when we in the north have our cars in storage for 5 mos.

If you are thinking southeast of Phoenix, then Gilbert or Queen Creek is probably your best bet. There is a nice neighborhood one of my buddies lives in out that direction (may actually be in Gilbert) where all the homes are on 1 acre lots. I think it's called Greenfield Acres. Send me a PM with more details and I can give you a better idea. I also have a good friend in the real estate biz that I can refer you to if you are interested in talking with someone.

BTW: It's not always this hot The winters are to die for. Do you know where you will be working?

Summer in Phoenix is like winter in New England. Very little time spent outdoors. In New England during the winter you can turn on the heat and work on the vette in the garage. In Phoenix unless it is air conditioned you can do nothing in the garage in the summer. January is very nice there usually.

Have you run out of water in Phoenix yet? Last time I was there it had not rained in 110 days. I don't like winter but I would rather have 4 seasons than endless summer.

You do not hear us bragging in San Diego this time. We are at over 100 here in San Diego, even downtown! Too Hot, must be too many cars burning too much fuel? Shall we all trade in for Civics?

That's slightly warm. At least you guys don't have to deal with humidity. Earlier this week MO was over 100 with 40%-70% humidity...it was awful.

Thermometer read 108 today in San Ramon, tried some yard work, but that didn't last long
Wanted to take the Vette for a night cruise, but had too many cold ones by that time

go to local ice house and get 6 or so blocks of ice and throw em in the pool, that should drop temps enough to take a swim,it has to be 90 or better for a week to get mine up to 82 degrees, and once the temps go down to 80 the pool drops to the 70--75 degree rNGE,,,,OUR SEASON IS SO SHORT UP HERE,,LAST WEEK IT FINALLY MADE IT UP PAST 80 DEGREES_82) my neighbor has a tree that wont let the sun hit my pool till noon and that lasted a few days,,temps went down in upper 70's low 80's and the water is 75,,,before you know it it will be sept and the water never recovers from those cool nights,,,, after labor day were lucky to even get in there,, a heater isnt relly worth it in cost for the little time were in it and solor covers are a pain to work with cleaning,,,a aqua droid under a solor cover works but wears out the droid fast bearings go because of the drag of the feed hose against the solor cover,,,,need to move from chicago to branson wher i can get better use of a pool, now last yerar was different every day was over 90 degrees so its all in the hands of the man upstairs i guess
