Default L88 update

Well, went and saw the L88 tank sticker and nope not an L88. So this is what I did see on it. L71 427 435 hp transiorized ignition and that's about all I could make out. The sticker is intact but its got a stain in the center. Has anyone had any luck using any methods to see a very faded sticker? Maybe put it in a copier machine and darken up the settings and see if that works? What the heck is a L71 anyway? The owner really doesn't want to sell the car he wants my chevelle. I don't really want to trade the chevelle worth about $23,000 and would offer him money if I had any idea what this car is worth. Now I've got to do some homework and learn what I can learn about the L71 before I make any kind of decision. Thanks for any help.

L-71 is a 427/435 with 3x2 carburetors. Solid lifters, big port heads. 6,500 red-line and runs well. Definatley the big dog on the block. Restored with matching numbers easily worth in excess of $50,000.

There is a thread on the NCRS technical discussion board within the past week on using infrared film to photograph the sticker. The stickers were printed on basically carbon paper and apparently the techniques brings out pretty good resolution. Drawback is the film is about $20 bucks and you need an older camera like a Canon AE1.
