Default lil 69 grill help please

I replaced my front clip on my 69 but can't figure out how the grill goes back together. I have all new parts and I wasn't the one who disassembled it. I have the inner and outer grill brackets. Does the grill screw into the brackets or something else? Does it screw into the headlight shield ? Do I need the license plate holder? It is almost like the opening is to big for the grill. Any assistance would be great and pics would be even better.
Thanks guys

1969 Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM) shows how all of this goes together, including --if I remember correctly -- hole markings for the outer brackets. Order the AIM. It'll be a big help.

I have a 68 and the grilles are pretty much the same.
If you don't yet have an assembly manual and want me to scan the appropriate pages from my 68 assembly manual and send them to you I will be glad to do it. Or I can photocopy the pages and mail them, whichever you prefer.
E-mail me if you need the pages.

I bought the 69 assembly manual from corvette central but it really isn't clear on how or what the grille attaches to. Does it attach to the headlight shields?

Can't attach to the headlight "shields" as the headlights move up and down. If you mean the plastic protectors for the headlights, the answer is "NO'.
The brackets are attached to the fiberglass body and the grilles bolt to the brackets. If you need pictures I will take some digital shots and send them but I warn you I am not a great photographer. The camera is a pretty good one though. Canon A520 Powershot Digital, 4.0 megapixels

Kurt I would love some pics if it isn't to much trouble. If you can get in there to see the bracketry and how the grill attaches to them would be great. My e-mail is star2318@***.net Thanks in advance

Regarding the Assembly manual ...

make sure you're looking at all the pages.
The pages for your grill assembly are
UPC 11-13, A5 and A6.

A suggestion is to take a pencil or yellow marker
and "color" in the 2 bracket supports (item #3 and #8).
This makes it much easier to see the big picture.

Both supports should be fastened from the bottom first (loose).
The bottom of the supports fasten through the fiberglass from underneath. Do that and you'll make it easier figuring out how to fasten the top of the support.

The 2 inside supports are also for the middle grill.

I found that once the supports are in place, hook up all your
electrical pieces (parking lights and side lights) and then
attach the grills. The parking lights attach to the grill,
which in turn goes through the outside support, and then
hooked up.

Do the stoneguards last. Can get that easily from underneath.
Takes 3 screws (see UPC 12, A3, Item #11) ...

Good luck ...

Will take pictures and send them later this evening as I have to give my son a ride to the mall right now.

Yep. Grilles are the same except for the chrome trim, but the outer brackets changed in '69.
