Default Body height question

I put the body to see how it looks and it's WAY too high!!! The only difference is that I went with Poly mounts. You can see the difference when you compare the pics I'm posting and my avitar. I've also included pics of the new mounts and I'm thinking I may cut them down. Or can I expect the body to drop enough when I install the interior, vert top and deck lid, hood and doors??

I think you ordered the wrong poly mounts. Your car originally had the thinner aluminum mounts, but it looks like you have the poly mounts that are a direct replacement for the rubber mounts. Energy Suspension makes a set of poly mounts in the same thickness as the old aluminum mounts, you should be able to get them from Summit.

Looks like you have the Ecklers poly mount kit for 73 thru 82 'Vettes. The 68-72 needs much thinner mounts. I would go original style ....but that IMHO.

Same thought here, those are the wrong body mounts for your car

Most people only achieve that kind of clarity after heavily abusing Tequila.

But here's a question for the body mount guru's. If you have a later model C3 can you use the thinner mounts to drop the body over the wheels a little more and get a lower look?

You might end up with the body laying on the frame...which would be bad since the fuel lines are there.

Here are the 63-69 ES mounts at Summit: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

If you want them in red, just search for the part number with an "R" instead of a "G" - why "G" means black, I don't know. Maybe it's for "graphite."

I used the same 73-up set on my 70 body/frame.
This is with stock rear 9 leaf and new 460 lb front coils.

Have you considered the following issues that may effect what you are seeing:

1 Is entire drivetrain/bumper/hood/accessories/interior installed ? Lots of weight here.
2 New front springs ? Maybe not properly seated.
3 Was car rolled with weight to settle the rear suspension ?
4 New rear spring ... perhaps needs longer bolts.

The frame to body gap on yours is very close to mine.
I think it is OK.
Your set came with bolts, not tie-wraps .. right ? J/K

It had occured to me that you could swap the two pieces
and get a shorter installed height, but I installed mine
just like you have shown. They could also be cut lower, but
then you need to cut the hardened inserts by the same amount ...
which would be a royal PITA.

That 63 to ?69? body mount set is only 6 mounts !!!

Thank you for the reply.
I have considered all the points you've mentioned and the only thing that is different except from the mounts is that there is alot of weight yet to add.
I think all will be fine now. And no the plastic ties did not come with the kit. I cut them off after all the bolts were in.
