Default Help: 68 pass. door won't open

Hi guys & gals,

I usually post in the C5 section but I have a friend's Dad that has a 1968 C3. I know absolutely nothing about C3's unfortunately, so I told him I would ask the gurus here.

His passenger side door will not open. We managed to get a long thin screwdriver down to the lever above the lock mechanism, and pushed it back (it is unlocked) but nothing happens.

The door was working but now it's locked in there solid.

Any ideas? We can pry back the inner door panel a little and shine a flashlight down there - so we can see the mechanism moving in the correct direction - but no joy.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

EG

Pull the seat, then the door panel, get to the mechanism frm there. Once open, remove the mechanism, clean thuroughly and lube with Lithium grease and reinstall

What the hell are you doing over here? Go back, get in the garage and finish Grond. We're all waiting to see how it turns out and you're over here dicking around. Get back to work!

Take the inner doot panel off. Ill bet money its the small reatiner clips, that hold the locking mechanisim rods together. Take a finger, and move the rods. The loose one thats floopy is the culprit

The small clips are available at autozone

you can try to sparay a litte wd 40 in thre to try to free it up, but ultimatly that door panel will have to ocome loose, these old thing are known jam up from dust and whatever, once back together, and littel grease on teh joints once a season keeps em working
