Default I'm really Frustrated !!!!

I've spent the past 3 weeks chasing down a short that causes the turn signals, dash lights and tail lights to blow fuses and go out. It's been between 90 to 100 degrees for the past few weeks which hasn't helped the situation either. I unwrapped and rewraped the entire harness from the tail lights to the fuse box and found nothing wrong. I pulled pretty much the entire interior including all of the dash and found nothing. I repaired any dash sockets that looked questionable and rewrapped the dash harness. While I was doing all of this I tried the lights a number of times and everything worked perfectly. Dash lights were good, tail and turn signal lights worked fine. So I started to button it up this past week. To make a long story short I finished putting in the last of the interior pieces yesterday and after everything was installed I tried the lights. You guessed it, no turn signals, no backup lamps, no dash lights and the fuse keeps blowing. Back to square one. I know its being caused by something that's getting pinched when the dash is reinstalled but its really frustrating to see all that work and sweat end up being for nothing.

try reversing the interior installation process checking your lights as you go. maybe you can back into the solution like that.

Yeah, that's what I'm planning to do. It's possible that something is being pinched either on the center console or the speedo/tach dash pad.

A friend discovered that the center screw holding the dash trim under the steering column had cut into the turn signal harness and caused some of the problems you're seeing. Just something to check in addition to the other good suggestions others have made.

That's a good one that I never thought of. It's probably too easy to be the cause but I'll check anyway. Thanks.

It could also be something located in the steering column. All the wires for the brake and directional lights do run up through it. Maybe if you have tilt/telescopic something is pinching.
Greg.
