It appears you have a 71. I would not remove it as these cars are appreciating in value, more if complete and highly optioned. You could reduce weight and therefore possibly fuel mileage, but not much. If you do remove it, I would save every nut, bolt, screw, tag, etc. for posterity. That stuff is expensive to replace nowdays.
