So now you guys know...I sell Corvettes...(part time)..but not here on the forum...got that ?
8 MPG? That sounds like my dad's '63 Studebaker Avanti on a good day. She is a Paxton Supercharged 304 V-8 that was worked over by the Granatelli brothers. Back when she was built, gas cost was of no concern, so the valve overlap is crazy; the goal being to get as much air and fuel into and out of the combustion chamber as quickly as possible. The starting proceedure is racecar-esque. Pump the gas pedal 7-10 times, turn the key, keep pumping the gas pedal and hope that a spark ignites the pool of gasoline. Upon starting the car, she spits raw fuel out of the exhaust. Wanna ruin a lady's day? Have her wear a white dress behind the car as you fire her up. Her white dress will become covered in black soot.
Back in 1992, my dad, his brother, and a friend of the family all drove their Avantis to Seattle. My uncle never believed that my dad's car used as much gas as it did, he always thought my dad was getting into the 'loud pedal' a bit too much. It wasn't until this trip that he was proved wrong. On the trip up, my dad stopped for gas twice for every once that the other two Avantis did. My uncle's car and the friend of the family's car averaged 16 MPG; my dad's Avanti averaged more than 7, but less than 8.
With gas prices as they are now, I think it would make more sense to fly back to the Bay Area.

OMG, this will cause a small group of forum members to run around in circles while tears and sh#t spew out of every orifice of their bodies.
The only problem I have with it is that you're not posting up pictures of all the cool Vettes that you get to play with.
A Corvette that is for sale can be just as cool to look at as one that is not.
Congratulations for getting to sell something that your really interested in!

Don't think it is appropriate for me to post pics of vettes here I'm helping coordinate sales on...Current inventory is all C4-C5's and only one C3 anyway..
I don't take salary..just compensation in parts,etc...but it is fun....
Ok..I picked the young Marine up at the airport...very neat guy...he told me he had been in contact with some other auto dealers in the San Diego area while he was in Japan..,and that they all told him they will talk when he gets here..he told me we were the only ones who would work with him up front...he bought a 94 coupe and had seen it on our site..My bud got paperwork done, and after I left the Marine said he did not know how to get to the Marine base..so my bud(owner) led him down there so he could check in..

The best part was the excitement in his eyes when he drove the Coupe..(we had to insist he try it out before we accepted his check)...I will see him in a few weeks....I get to have a tour of MCRD....a place I have not been since bootcamp in 1962..
