Default Rear emblem ID help...

Check out the emblem in the photo below. What the heck is this from? I've checked every book I can find and I have no idea what this is. Any help appreciated as it needs to be replaced.
Thanks.

Possibly a 75 gas cap door emblem?

This thing really has me licked. It even has the bend in it to flow with the curvature of the back end. I should have glassed the holes and replaced it with the letters I guess.
Anyone else?

Looks like a '62 nose emblem to me (that Bubba bent before he stuck it on).

Replace it with the letters.

Perfect timing!!!! Take that silly thing off your 68's butt and send it to this guy in Iraq:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1463793

He can mount it on their Hummer!

I am... maybe ... 54 - 56% serious about this suggestion, so feel free to ignore me! If you need glasswork and paint to remove it, might be too much trouble to put the letters on.

I'm sticking to my original guess. Looks like a 75-76 gas cap emblem from here.

Look closer. The '62 is open and shows his red paint through the emblem. A '75 gas emblem is solid and has a "starburst" in the red that is not on his car. Plus, the flags are clearly larger on his car, the same dimensions as the '62. No "Corvette" written under the flag, either.

Yeah, I just put my glasses on. It does look as though the red "inside" the emblem is the color of the car coming through the hollow portion. Uncle!!! Uncle!!!

While were on the subject of rear emblems I need help. My 75 vert pictured in the avatar does not have a rear emblem. The original back cap got replaced years ago with an aftermarket one. The replacement got painted to match the car but the back cap is smooth and does not have the recesses/holes for the emblem. I have driven the car for quite some time like this but it is slowly starting to bug me. I am not very handy so I cannot probably handle a complicated fix like drilling holes etc. without probably botching up the paint. I'd like to simply afix a flush mounting emblem on the back between the tail lights. I was thinking of something like a 84 "CORVETTE" emblem as this will just stick on. Anybody have any other creative ideas? The car is a driver so I'm not concerned with keeping it original; I just want something that'll look nice and close up that gap between the tail lights.

Nothing complicated about it, just place some painters tape over the cap, mark your holes and drill, just remove the cap from the car, place on table and drill from the back side with the tape on the painted side to prevent damage

You should make a template first out of cardboard or plastic to make sure you drill the holes in the right spot.
You could also try to grind off the pegs on the back of your emblem and use double sided sticky tape.

Probably the easier thing to do.
