Pace Car Decals...
Hey guys, I wanted to replace the hood decal on my 78 pace car-- all of the other decals are in perfect condition. I went to 3 websites (phoenix, stencil & stripes,etc) and they all list the decals as a whole set OR separately. So I go to order the hood decal and they say no, have to order the whole set. I asked why they list them separately -- they really dont have an answer for that. Sometimes they will break up a set. Talk about a corvette tax. Im not going to pay 229 bucks for a 2 inch wide hood stripe. Maybe if I was famous they would break up a kit for me. Im sure theyre not making ANY money when I pay them 125 bucks for a hood stripe alone.
Anybody know where I can just get a decal for the hood????

Both of these places will sell individuals. The guy at stencils is real cool and will quote pieces.

actually-- thats the first two places that I called. BOTH told me I cant buy just the hood stripe (even though its listed separate for 125.00). they said I had to buy the whole kit.
any other suggestions??

Yeah--
its hard to believe selling a hood stripe for a 125.00 is not making them a profit at all. Come on, how much does a vinyl decal cost them. Im not against businesses making a profit, but throw me a freaking bone here. Its hard to justify 250 bucks or so for me to get a hood decal. Heck, I thought 125 bucks was bad enough.
Gliot1-- if you have any connections with the guy from stencils and stripes, could you help a forum brother out?

Stencils & Stripes used to sell individuals, though sometimes the pricing didn't warrant it, it was cheaper just to get the kit, as it seems something always happens to other decals.
I'll check tonight and see what I have as I have bought the kit two different times when doing bodywork. I know I have at least one hood decal, which I want to keep. If I have two I would be willing to sell one.

My wife does vinyl graphics as part of her job. People turn up with sign-written vehicles & they copy the damaged/required vinyl, cut it out, fit it & then charge the customer. Can't you just run the car down to a sign-writer who does vinyls & get them to do it (either from an old original or from laying out a pattern on the hood)?

That hood decal is big and "U" shaped in one piece...
