i hate to be picky, but the original creator of that webpage and the idea behind it might be taken a little more seriously by a major corporation like GM and Chevrolet if he had at least used spellcheck in the "letter" to GM explaining what the petition is.

I don't believe any large corporation would agree to something like that. If I were with GM's marketing department I would say that the inclusion of that phrase could possibly send the wrong message to potential customers.
I am a fan of THE WAVE and I practice it. However I fell that personal behavior of this kind cannot be "legislated", so to speak. Owners can be educated but if they don't want to wave, they won't.
I think GM will leave the story of THE WAVE up to the rank and file of enthusiasts.
while I like the idea, it looks like a 12 year old composed it. Very cheezy! I do, however, like the idea. Think of how they could use it in commercials. Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I saw a Vette commercial. ??? They could show a restored 68 driving past a new Z06, maybe the same color, both convertibles, something that they both have in common...Then the 68 could wave at the Z06 and the passenger of the Z06 could say "Wow dad, look at that one!" and they both could wave back at the 68. The announcer could voice-over about the heritage of the wave and tradition of Corvettes and blah-blah-blah...might work...

Sounds like a pretty good commercial to me. I can't wait to see it.
Yesterday there were 30 posts to a thread asking how to wave. Really. "How do I wave?"
Now we have a petition written in 9th grade English to make people wave.

not to mention lawsuits.........
I can see it now. corvette driver gets in an accident. The police report states that driver removed hand from steering wheel to wave at another car...... blah, blah, blah.......... driver stated that removing hand from steering wheel to wave at other cars was stated as proper driving of this vehilce in the owners manual..........
yeah, get 2 million people to sign that thing and you still won't get GM to do it. Their lawyers would never allow it.
Are you serious????
First of all we only have 2 hands... and while one is busy holding a cell phone, coffee cup, beer, makeup, newspaper, ect:
Just what hand is one supposed to wave with???

Now as to the petition, I think this has gone on several times before. GM will never do it, because of money. To print that in each manual and put in the car will raise the price maybe a buck or two per car and they just won't do it.
I remember years ago different clubs trying to get Chevy to include info about local clubs at the dealer level and information packets, supplied by the clubs, on Corvette tradition, but it was never allowed officially.
One reason may have been that Chevy figured it was covered with Corvette News, which basically had that kind of information and was sent to each new Corvette owner, but CN has been gone a long time now.
