Speedo bounce, but only when hot??
I've been having a very inconsistent speedo bounce problem since I got my car. I pulled the cable, cleaned it thoroughly, and lubricated it very well with cable lube. The problem didn't go away. The needle only bounces when the engine is warm or on a very hot day. When rolling to a stop, it will read 1-2mph as it should and then suddenly bounce to 20, rest back to where it was before, etc. What's going on here?

It sounds like the cable is binding in it's housing when it gets hot. The sudden jump to 20 mph is when the bound up cable unloads. I just replaced a speedo cable because it melted against my exhaust pipes, could this also be a source for your problem? The cable is not overly difficult or expensive to replace. I zip tied my new cable away from the exhaust pipes.
