Default 68 Vert Windshield Cornors

Need some help with my 68 Vert. I have been restoring this Corvette for a year and 1/2 and now have run into a small problem with the windshield cornor moldings. I need new ones as the chrome is messed up on both sides and the separate little pieces for the top pins (the piece with the plastic bushing) are bad, one is broken. I can not seem to find a pair of these anywhere. Are the T-top and Vert cornor moldings on a 68 the same dimentions? This is not a numbers matching car so I am not trying to restore for NCRS or anything. I see many catalogs advertising the cornor moldings for either 68 through 76 or 69 through 76 but no mention if they are T-top or convertible. Is there really a difference between 68 and 75 Verts that the cornor molding for a 68 Vert are 68 only? Any help to include where to get a pair of these moldings is very much appriciated. Thanks

Someone is reproducing these 68 only pin blocks. I have only seen them on Ebay. Search for a seller "missbird2". Plan on paying $100+ for them.

Vert and coupe corners are not the same.

The other alternative is to get 69-up corners. You can buy licensed reproductions of that part from many vendors. This would mean removal of trim and glass however.

Thank you for the info. I don't have a windshield in place right now. Are you saying that the 69-75 Vert cornor molding will be OK? Do I need to ask specifially for Vert molding or are the T-top and Vert the same for 69-75? Sorry for not understanding better, lots of confusing stuff in the catalogs. I saw the little pieces on ebay and you are right, they are pricey but hay, its a Corvette.

Yes the 69-up single piece convertible corners will work in place of your 68 only 2-piece. The convertible and coupe corners are not the same, make sure and get the convertible corners. I got my 69-up from Paragon for about $40 each.

Since you have your windshield out, I would go with the 69-up.

Many thanks for the information. I am releived that there is an alternative to some of this stuff. This is my first C-3 restro and my friends told me I was nuts for wanting to do a 68. Everything else is going great. Just run into these little things once in a while.

Hi

If the windshield is out, use the 69 and up Corners.
The 68 corners are not available.
I don't think anybody is reproducing them and whatever you find on E-bay is crap.
Ask me how I know.

Günther , who is trying to find them for the last 6 years wihtout any luck.

Gunther, have you purchased the missbird2 68 pin corner moldings?
If so, do they fit?

Although they might fit, those are for 69 and up.

Any 68 owners purchased the corner pin moldings from the missbird2 ebay seller?

I have seen the missbird2 corners and they are pretty crude, exactly like the originals! The corner pin moldings from the factory are very crude also. Looks like they did them with temporary tooling since they knew the new molding was coming soon.

Thanks for the feedback. I had thought about buying a set even though my corner moldings are solid, they just need to be refinished.

Thanks everyone for the help and advice. The Trimparts is exactly what I need. I saw the two little parts that missxxxx had and the bidding just got way to high as far as I am concerned. The 69 moldings will be just fine and they look great. Just got my windshield yesterday so now need to get the moldings so I can put the windshield in. Again, thanks everyone.
