Trip odometer reset cable question
Putting the dash back on my 74, need to know if the odometer reset cable goes into the bracket with the headlight bypass switch? If so what side of the bracket does each go into ? My odomiter reset cable doesnt seem to reach. This was all apart when i purchased the carso have no reference.

On my 76 the odometer reset cable mounts in a hole to the left of the headlight over ride switch bracket. I don't remember for sure but I think the hole it mounts in is part of the lower dash panel. I can take a photo if you can't figure out where it goes.

odometer reset cable
Is that the bracket under the steering colum with 3 hoes in it? The center hole is larger than the 2 outside holes. If thats the bracket my cable will not reach. I wonder if there is a certain route that cable must have to take in order for it to reach?

If the cable doesnt reach you have it routed wrong

Mike here is a photo of everything installed. I dug around and found an old photo from when I had the dash apart. When I installed mine I had the dash on the work bench and I just took the old cable off and put on a new one. There wasn't much extra lenth in the cable. Good luck.

Thanks for the pictures, that clears things up. I was trying to get the cable in the same bracket as the headlight cover release switch. I see now that there is another bracket to the left of that. Thanks

Joe ( C3 Guy): Thank you for posting the photos of the rear of the instrument panel gauges. Found them via the search function. The photos allowed me to easily fix a problem that I had with my trip odometer. Could not have done it without your photos! Patrick

Can the trip odometer cable be replaced while all is intact, or do you need to remove the speedo ?
trip odo turns & reads but i cant reset it ............that & my cig lighter are the ONLY 2 things in my red 68 that dont work & i'm getting ready for a performance evaluation test.......

427Sixpack: (1) What happens when you attempt to push up on the trip odometer and reset it? ( will it push up ?) (2) Will it turn any after you push it up and in?
Should be an easly fix if odom itself is now turning and reading correctly.

does nothing.........cant reset the numbers at all, but as i drive they turn & the reg odo works fine as well, just cant reset the trip odo.......
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!
i hate messing with the gauge clusters in c3's left or center.........
