Holy Shizzznit Ya'll!!---It happened!
Took a short sunday drive in the batmobile...passed two red C-6's (at different times)...ummm....no wave.
then.....it happened...
A white C-6 passed me going the other way (actually he took a right and drove right by me)...he gave a healthy wave, blew the horn, and gave a thumbs-up!
First time it has ever happened.
As it stands now; I am the only black C-3 in this city...I have seen a white 72 vert, a maroon 80 L-48, and a blue L-48 (bubble back dont know what year cause its on blocks under a carport).
As far as I know; until "Kevinator" (of this CF) gets his on the road, its just mine and the maroon L-48 driving around here...there may be more, but they dont show themselves...and every shine-n-show dealy I have driven by has no C-3's at all.
I guess its a safe way to take first place in the C-3 class in all these shows!!!
I get thumbs-up, "look dat car!", "thats one fine Vette!" all the time.
But it did happen....I swear....I finally got a wave after 9 mos. from another Vette driver

Drove a couple hundred miles to get a wave 3 blocks from my house.
There are a few I spoted since then.
A nice red 68. The Yellow Mid 70s, and a few new ones(c6)
Anyway
NOt I have been getting waves more and more.
I figure I will wave regardless of the generation or if they wave back.
Feels good to SAVE THE WAVE!

Here in Toronto I see lots of C5 and C6's and rarely if ever get the wave. But I ALWAYS wave at them and 1/2 the time they just look at me like I gave them the finger. But yesterday a guy in a 3ple black c6z gave me a big wave, my work continues. Mines a claret C3.

I never get a wave from a C5 or C6 around Toronto either, I don't bother waving anymore, seems they are busy trying to figure out how they are going to make their next payment

Funny that you mention this. While driving on Sunday, I saw a very nice 75 vert coming the other way. I gave him a wave and he waved back, even though I was in my crappy, old Saturn. Put a smile on my face. He must have sensed that my driveway had an 81 with a dead transmission

We shouldn't paint them all the same, especially the members of this forum that have the newer Vettes
Just some of them that don't get it and never will

A couple of weeks ago I drove my 77 to the bank (69 still in resto). I came out and saw a C6 pull in next to me. I was very happy and greeted the guy with some comment about 'vettes. He looked at my car like it was a t*rd on wheels, muttered something, and walked into the bank. Sure, Eugene's no "sacred grooves", but...Dang!
But I still wave, Hoosier hospitality and all...

Most (NOT all) C5-C6 guys are not "Corvette guys". Most were ex-BMW owners and the C5/C6 was their first Vette thus the snobby attutude.

Fact is, most C5 owners I know (Im one of them) ALSO own an early car (at least one) or at least have had one in the past. Stop whining like a bunch of jealous newbies.

Get over it already.....some folks wave, some don't.....why take it so personally.

I actually get most of my waves from C4's.
I did get a funny look when I shot a hottie in a '74 drop top the Corvette wave. Guess it would have meant more if I hadn't been in my truck.

I know the BreauBridgeKid of this forum has a black C-3 somewhere around here...I have never run across him, or even know if its still on the road.
I also thinks he stores his car at his mom and dads house in another town because he lives in some apartments.
I personally; am not sweating the "wave threads" or which owners dont wave, which do, ect...
I was just very happy to finally get a wave.
It isnt the first time I have run across another Vette while driving mine; its the first time I have ever seen the wave in action.
I kinda thought it was like a "secret hand-shake" that wasnt known around here.
Around here; a nice C-3 is the kind of car you definatly do not want to be doing anything illegal in (speeding, drinking a cold brew, ect...)...they do attract a bunch of attention.
I was pulled over by the cops back in June; ......he just wanted a pic of the car with his cell phone....I was appreciative AFTER he said why he pulled me over, but he started with "do you know how fast you were going?"
I answered with: "well my GPS says 45...." (a C-3 owner will understand )
Took a few pics said "nice car...thanks!" and away he went.
Another time I am in a restaraunt; a guy is standing by my car getting his picture taken...when I look and see whats really going on; he has his black C-6 angled by my car...then he asked some dude in a Suburban to take a pic with both him and his friend by both cars.
I have to say; there has NOT been one time when I have taken it out on a nice evening that somebody doesnt come by it and takes a pic or their pic with it....whether driving or parking....it gets more attention than I care to have.
But...
Butt.....
....it is a chick magnet....
