I need a new car cover for my 77.The one given to me by the previous owner is shot.My car is always garaged, and never sits outside.I have looked around at various web sites and find them from $20.00 to hundreds.I mainly want one to keep the dust off etc. when it is sitting in the garage.Do I need to spend a lot of money or would a cheaper one serve my purpose? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.Thanks...
From: GA "When I grow up, I'm gonna get a Trans Am and run from the cops". Direct quote from my 4yo son.
I got one off of ebay for about $18 plus shipping. Made by Lebra. Not Corvette specific but it keeps the dust off and that's all I needed for the garage.
Well let me tell ya. I have been doing this Corvette thing for almost thirty years now and what works best for me is old cotton bed sheets. ( not the fitted kind) I put one on the roof then one on the hood overlapping the one on the roof and the same for the rear. They don't scratch. They are easy to wash. They are easy to put on the car without touching the floor and picking up dirt to scratch the car. Best of all, they are free. Just go to the closet or spare room grab three of them and presto...car cover. Now they don't look real pretty, but who's looking...just me and the mice.
A cotton sheet may be best as the car is kept indoors, the cotton will keep the dust off and breath. Most car covers made for outdoor use will actually hold moisture in as it condenses on the car, even the "breathables" allow air but are made to keep moisture out, or in your case in, not good for any car, can be very bad for fiberglass. Sheets are cheap, easily laundered, and not hard to replace or rotate occasionally. Of course if you live in Arizona this is probably not a problem.
