Default C3 Heater core brand?

Going to be changing out the heater core in my 72 with A/C. (Yes I know pita).
I was wondering what brand of core to use for the replacement. ACDelco, Ready-Aire, etc. They all look the same now. Probably one manufacture who sells to the others. The older ACDelco cores use to have the inlet and outlet pipe soldered in the middle to suport the pipes. The new ACDelco and aftermarket cores do not. Does this matter?

I use AutoZone for simple stuff. When I did my core on my 72....I bought my core at NAPA. 50 ? something bucks. Didn't want to do it twice.

Take it slow...do some cleaning as you go....it's not too bad.

I bought a new AC Delco core for an 81 and found that the outlet hoses were not formed correctly and the solder joint would have been stressed if I would have clamped it in place. So I took the brand new core and the old Harrison core to a local radiator shop. They ended up taking the plates off the old Harrison core and putting them on the AC Delco.

I should have just had the original recored. Would have saved me a lot of money.

I just did my heatercore last month, it was a pain, i have ac in my 78. But i used Napas Heater core, it went in and seems to work fine. It was only about 40$ or 50$ for it.

Napa is great for parts like that

Make sure you fill up the new heater core full of water and let it sit on your counter for a couple hours and check for leaks, you dont want to install it to find out you bought a bad heatercore. Biggest thing too mark your bolts and screws, and buy the foam inserts for your duct work so they fit right, i wish i would of done that on mine....
