Hey guys,
I finally found a hood stripe for my 78 pace car. It did not come with any directions or helpful hints.
Does anybody have a copy of directions or some type of guidance before I tackle this job.
Same procedure as installing window tint, spray bottle full of soapy water and squeege,as you pull adhesive backing spray the solution and car ,squeege air bubbles out.
any certain ratio of soap to water???
Any brand of soap preferred?
Since it is a large stripe, and it may take some time getting it just right, is there such a thing as using too much soap and water???
I dont want it to start adhering until I get the whole thing on and make sure its all straight.

yes just a little soap, you definitley can use to much soap. I would do about a 1/2 teaspoon of soap in a spray bottle

1-2 drops of solution in a spray bpottle. doesn't take any more. wash the section with dish soap in the water to remove all the wax. dry it off to remove any dirt, etc. spritz it down with your soap solution. start a sesction of your decal and apply it to the car. peel back the remainder of the paper. align the decal and then begin squeegeeing (sp?, is it even a word for that matter...) it out while making sure you are keeping it aligned. work from the center to the sides working the air bubbles out. As best I can remember those were the directions when I put the stripes on my old Firebird. The soap makes this job easy. you do al your aligning with the decal just sliding around on the car. easiest it's ever been for me. Then don't touch it for awhile. in the sun it took about an hour to dry to the touch so that it didn't move.
Clean the area with alcohol. Position the decal with the backing on, then hold it in place with a few pieces of tape. Spray the area with water. The soap really isn't necessary. If you have water on the surface, you can reposition the decal easily. Peel off one edge of the backing and stick the decal down. Work your way to the other end. Only when you have it positioned correctly, squeegee the water out. Then, gently remove the transfer paper.
