Can anyone help my speedometer problem
I recently bought a 73' that needs some work. One thing is the speedometer is not hooked up. I am sure it is hooked to the dash part so that leaves the hookup to the trany. It is an automatic, but i cant find the spot to hook it up. Can anyone help?

Order the assembly instruction manual (AIM) for '73 -- get a reproduction owner's manual while you're at it (if you don't have an original). The AIM shows the speedo cable connection on the side of the tranny and also lists a chart for the correct tranny driven gear for your trans/rear end combination.
Speedo cable could be loose at the rear of the speedo; could be loose at the tranny. Either will result in a non-functioning speedo.

I have a 1980 and my Speedo just bounces between 0-15 miles an hour. I was told that it was a major project to fix the problem at the transmission. On a 1-10 how tough would you rate this project?

i have an '81- agree w/ above statement..driver's side, rear of tran.....out of 10 being hard...probably a 2. Just call your local chevy dealer- ask for the drive gear for the speedometer and they can order it for you. $10 at most.
