Default What would YOU pay?

...for a '74 with 78,000 original miles, pretty decent interior, 350, 400 automatic, a new iginition system, t-tops (which DO leak), 2 bad calipers and a busted rear bumper cover? I think I might try to sell (proved to be too much for me to handle).

The problem is, I owe the bank 8k on this particular loan (I got extra money on this loan so that I could pay off the loan on my Z) and they won't sign it off unless I have close to that.

What do you guys think?

I wouldn't pay more than $5500. Probably needs way more work than you know...they always do.

It would have to be pretty nice to be worth $8k. I would say around $6k if it's in average condition.

That's easy. People who have paid too much before, for a Corvette that wasn't worth it. There is always a good deal of work that has to be done that most people wil never see until they're looking at a bill quote at their favorite shop.

"What? Wheel bearings and side yokes? U-Joints? All I wanted was a rear brake job."

Next thing you know you've gone to three different shop, had the exhaust leak fixed, brake done, some suspension work and a tune up. $3000 later, you wish you had bought a $5000 Vette and paid the same for work.

I've been there, most everyone else here has too.

Yeah, I only paid 6500 and i'm feeling that. Of course when I drove it, it was absolutely mechanically sound...so much for that, right? Yeah, I found out plenty I didn't want to find out from the shop, and I guess my debt isn't worth the amount of work that has to be done.

Unless all that work has ALREADY been done, stay away from $6000+ C3s. There are exceptions obviously, but the extra cost has to be justified by SOMETHING.

I think that your description of the car puts it in the $6000 range. You can ask for more of course, but based on your details, I think that its in this range.

Let us know how it turns out. Try to talk him down. If you can get cash to throw in his face he may sell for $6000. Take and post pics after you buy it. More intimate pics than what you have.
