Finally got around this morning to installing my side pipes. Not sure if my method suits everyone, but I bolted them diredctly to the frame....How you might ask. I drilled a hole for the bolt, went under car with a drill and die grinder and made me a wrench slot. put bolt on side pipe, put thru hole, attached nut, and tightened thru slot. WORKS GREAT. those who have had to install sidepipes with the crap brackets they give you will understand. notched the side covers and here we are. The result is that they dont sit low. they arent connected and functional yet, but soon as i can get to store and get some exhaust parts and get my C5 off my lift, they will be hooked up.

They look good,...but I have a question. If you bolted them directly to the frame, how will you compensate for the movement of the engine? The headers are bolted directly to the engine and the engine has movement as it is accelerated and decelerated. If the pipes are bolted directly to the frame, how will this minor movement be absorbed?
A few years ago, I installed new exhaust on my MGA. I bolted a hard bracket from the down pipe directly to the frame. The car had a minor vibration, and after a few hundred miles driving, it broke the bracket. I ended up having to run the correct mounts with their weak brackets and rubber absorbers.
How about a few pics of how you mounted them? I was figuring on doing something similar for now because I don't have enough money to put the headers on and get all the U and J pipes to mount everything up. I thought the setup they provided for the pipeslooked like crap too. Only part I want to keep is the rubber isolators.
i sandwiched 1 rubber isulator between frame and sidepipe. that seems to be enough cushion to allow some, but very little movement. Matter of fact i just got back from muffler shop. guy charged me 60 bucks to connect em to exhaust. he made couple pieces, removed the old exhaust, supplied all parts and connect everything.....
I dont know too much about the side pipes, but,i looked at your order and the pic of the patriot pipes does not have a header flange that bolts to the heads.what do you do to finish the headers off?The pic looks like half of the lower part of the headers.
