I used rattle can aluminum paint on mine and they look great even after a year of sitting out in the weather. I also used some insulation mat on the back side of mine to protect them from the mufflers. It works good as they barely get warm to the touch and the mufflers pretty much lay against them. heres a link to my car domain page....
I painted mine with House of Kolor Kandy Basecoat, and then clear, no color coat. There are two different types of metalflake, small and large. I used the large I think.
It really shines in the sun, much better than 'silver' paint. Not chrome by any means, but I don't like body color painted covers.
I've had them painted for 2-3 years now and no discoloration at all.
