Default WhiteGauges cool inexpensive mod, pics

I put in the WhiteGauges faces on my speedo and tach this weekend. I am very happy with the result and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg
Don't mind the mess in the interior or the seat cover, haven't had a
chance to clean it up yet

THe only thing I don't like is how much it's gonna cost me to put white
gauges in the center console

Highest speed limit where I live is 70MPH so 85MPH is pushing it

Kidding aside I look at the tach more to gauge my speed

Im sorry but that is pretty funny.

They look good, I wonder how hard its going to be to do the center console.

You should get a 220 MPH speedo sheet to go over your gauge since you dont use the speedo anyway. People would see that and freak out hahaha.

Seems like everytime someone would look inside my car (whether kids or adults) the speedometer is the first thing they would look at. "Why does your speedometer only go to 85mph"? they would ask. I got tired of giving the liberal explanation to them that it was Bush and his administration's fault, so when I took the dash out when installing the ROD I made a point of changing it out to a 140mph unit.

I was thinking of doing this also. I would've painted the speedo and tach needles red so you could see them a little better. Looks great though. I wish they made a kit for the dial faces of the center console gauges.

I no defense of the Bush's, I believe 85 mph was due to the 1973 oil embargo during the Nixon administration when the speed limit was reduced to 55 mph. As instruments were upgraded with dashboard design changes during the 70's, there was no need for any speedo's to go beyond 100 mph any more. So 85 was the new number.

But the gauges look cool!

I believe the law limiting speedo's to 85 MPH came from Carter in the late 70's.

That sucks! Whitegauges.net They don't even sell a 140 mph which is stock. Or a 8000 rpm tack face.

I have not installed them yet but I bought about $300 worth of autometer gauges to replace my exsisting semi functional stock gauges. I have a twin feed temp gauge to replace the clock. It's going to read out the rearend and manual tranny temp.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it would have come from Congress if it was a law and not a regulation...
