I'll be rebuilding my QJet carb soon and want to know what to use to soak it in. I've heard about using carb cleaner spray, but it'll evaporate fast won't it?
Yes the spray evaporates pretty rapidly. if the carb is pretty nasty you can get some stuff called "Berryman Chemtool" . Comes in a 1 gallon can with a basket and some stuff floating on top of it to keep it from evaporating. Its very goos stuff and will clean it up very well. Just don't put the plastic parts in it and get yourself a box of Nitrile gloves (they are blue surgical gloves)
And while you're out, pick up an aluminum turkey roasting pan. You can not fit the carb parts into the gallon bucket. Put the carb parts in the pan and pour the Berryman's into the pan. And do not get any on you because it stinks real bad and will eat your skin. Nasty stuff, but it does the job. I usually leave parts to soak for a day or two.
Berrymans is the way to go unless you can get ahold of plain toluene (the main ingredient in Berrymans). Wear safety goggles too. (sorry had to say that I am an EHS guy).

Good luck, Chris
That's no lie. You should definitely wear goggles. That stuff burns your eyes worse than anything you could imagine.
