Default engine ready for paint, couple questions

Ok as said everything is ready to paint but I noticed the timing chain cover after I prepped it rusted quickly...

are you supposed to primer the timing chain cover and the oil pan...?

or just paint them with the chevy orange paint alone? I'm using quanta chevy orange btw. thanks

Yes dura or duro-color makes a high temp engine primer. You can buy it at pep-boys or auto-zone or most bid auto parts stores.

I leaned never to paint anything w/out primer paint first.
