WOW!! Damn, now that looks good. I think I just got on the bandwagon myself. Of course I'll have to get a set of those in place of the cheap chrome ones someone put on mine. That would go perfect with my paint scheme.
Must have taken forever to get the fins taped up and painted like that?

Thanks all. It wasn't all that hard. I primed first. Then, I sprayed the Chevy Orange. Then, I faded the metallic black on top. After that, I went over the fins with a rag soaked with laquer thinner. Once that was all done, I used about seven coats of hi temp clear. Not hard, just time consuming. Glad to know you all like them.
I have a set ide like to fix up. question i have is that the original finish is in bad shape. bubbled and cracked. seems to be a powder coating. Did GM powder coat them from the factory? what will remove the original coating???
don't think that they were originally powder coated. Maybe someone else will chime in. The first pic in my post is what they normally look like. Got any pics of yours? Maybe they are off of a different model or something...
Not sure if that is powder coating or not. Best I can say is to sand as smooth as possible and clean them really well. Don't be afraid of laquer thinner and wax and grease remover.
