It's too bad you can't order on-line, I'm sure they loose big $$$ because of that and some of the other old-fashion ways they have for ordering, I have a fax but not willing to print form, fill out, then fax, etc.
It's too bad, I would have bought a ton of stuff from them.
Batman, I understand the Phone call time issue...it's hard to find time.
But I always feel the need to speak to a real live person when I order something
If you want it, Doc usually has it in stock.
They CLEARLY state that their catalog prices may not be accurate...Im hoping you have a hard copy of Doc's catalog so you can understand what I'm talking about.
Their catalog is HUGE and they had it all transfered to PDF format
I live 20 miles from DR Rebuild .... I call them, they pull the order and I go and pick it up
Doc, Debbie and Brenda are great people (watch our for the alarm system... canine powerd with big teeth
I would NEVER give a credit card# over the phone (Unless it is a hard wired telephone) Cell/Cordles phones?.. there is always someone listening...
If you have no money to loose than by all means, use your cell/cordless phone or internet to place orders...
I do ALL my ordering over a hard line telephone..
I have a credit card that's only used for internet/telephone purchases. It would be pretty easy to tell if something untoward happened. Internet encryption is pretty darn good these days, anyway.
Well, I guess that I'll do it the old fashioned way and order the parts that I need over the phone with a cc, at least they'll have them. Thanks fellas!
It's very simple. Pretty much every major mail-order buisiness has an online catalog and ordering system these days. He doesn't. I rarely have time to make phone calls during normal business hours, so I can't call in an order. Therefore, I take my business elsewhere. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Exactly my problem, there is a 6 hour time difference from the UK and a 9 hour time difference in Moscow where I work, not to mention the cost of international calls. Its just too much hassle.
Perhaps their international customers have a hard time in ordering, but for me in the States, they have always been great. I just use an excel spreadsheet, too and list the part number and price. You get one of their catalogs when you order and then you'll be set for the next year if you ever need to look something up.
The Dr. is the best. I have visited his shop in Bridgeport, Ct and it is an old warehouse that is stocked chock full of great Corvette stuff. He has a great and dedicated staff who are some of the most knowledgeable people in the hobby. He is an oldtimer an plays by his own rules which are not unreasonable.
I don't bother to get the updated prices as I need the parts and from my experience there has never been a parts increase that I wouldn't pay. They have all been reasonable.
Dr. Rebuild part # 1009321 - Upper Windshield Molding.
This is the thin strip that runs across the top of your windshield on the outside. Online catalog (from 1999 I think) price is $75.00.
Price now- $345.00
This may be the biggest ripoff Corvette part that I have come across on my restoration.
However, I think that the Doc is the only vendor that carries it.

i have used doc rebuild extensively and have never been disappointed with either the parts or the service. his folks are extremly well versed in their parts and availability, their speed in processing an order is second to none (they will even give you an indication of when it will hit the shipper. the rest is beyond their control). many times they will offer an NOS part and a replacement option should you wish. if you order, you get a catalog which is a lot more up to date pricewise than the website (but still NOT necessarily price correct to the penny).
if you have ever had the occassion to send "doc" an email, you get a personal and rapid reply (yes there actually is a real "doc" and he checks his email daily). i realize that their methodology isn't in keeping with today's techno savvy (and in doing so impersonal in my opinion) wheeler dealer buyers, LOL!!, but i'll take accuracy and product quality over the inconvenience (yeah like that's what i consider it, lol) of actually dealing with a real, live, breathing helpful, human being on the telephone every time! there are very few parts suppliers who provide that type of customer service anymore. perhaps most people don't even want that today, but i find it refreshing to say the least.
they are the first ones i turn to when i want the right stuff at a fair price, hands down.
