Default Corvette Central screwed me good

The evening of 8/28 I prdered a chrome brake booster fron them. The next day I get a invoice confirming my order. It state i will receive it in 7 to 10 days. On 9/6 I get a e mail saying my order was shipped. I email back and ask if it is normal to take nine days to ship a order. In the return email they tewll me Imy oerder was being held untill all items were in stock to ship! It stated the booster will not be instock untill 9/21. Nice of them to confirm my order and nevewr say anything about out of stock items. So my car sits taken apart ready for the new partsand it will sit for two weeks waiting for them. What great dervice. Now I will miss three car shows un less i want to pay through the nose for a next day shipping from a differant vendor...............oh yeah I was billed 14.95 shipping for the firewall gasket a 5.05 part.

I have learned by having the same experiance that with some of the venders when you get to the billing page, there is a special instructions box is available. I just tell them to notify me if the whole order is shipping or not, and if there are any back orders because I usually pay for 2nd day delivery. I have been credited back shiping charges numerous times when the venders have held an order while they waited for it to be completed before they shiped the parts.
Good luck.

Yup, quite a few companies do that. If one of 20 items is backordered they hold the entire order unless you specifically ask them to make partial shipments.

Most companies will make a partial shipment (at no additional shipping cost) if you ask nicely. There's no reason you should have to wait 9 days, or pay extra shipping, because a company can't keep proper inventory.

Sorry to hear about your screwing.

Corvette Central did ok by me a few weeks ago.
The main order shipped normally via ground.
A few days later they shipped next day air a part that wasnt' included inthe main order.
All boxes arrived at my house the same day. 9 Bussiness days after I placed by order.

The part they next day aired was a $3 bottle of Cable lube.

I was not charged extra for this.

Zip has done that to me. Worth picking up the phone (during business hours when it is not just order takers) and asking them to check inventory. Saves a lot of frustration.

i had the same problem with a stereo and speaker bar. got the speakers, no stereo for a month. I had to email and ask when I would get the 2nd part of my order. they came back with, it will be shipped to us in 3 weeks, them we will send it out to you.

The split shipping isnt the problem. Waiting nine days before telling me the booster was backordered till 9/21 is the killer. Had I known I would have ordered from another vender. Now my car is sitting untill I can reorder a new one.

That's the reason for using a vendor that actually stocks the parts instead of someone who just has a pretty catalog.

Call and talked to corvette central to cancel order today. Girl on phone acted as if this was normal, and told me it stated on the online order form items IN STOCK would be shipped in 7/10 days. I asked when someone whould have told me it was back ordered if I didnt contact them. Answer was everything for online orders is automated, so nobody whould have called.
Funny thing is when I call Chromeco for a part he told me they were the supplier for most catalog companys. I now know where I will order from. Chromeco is 5 miles away, may cost a bit but I will see a face I know.....

I am lucky because I have a Vette Parts vendor within 20 minutes of here. I walk in, they put the part in my hand and I walk out. If they don't have what I want or if the part isn't up to snuff I can make decide to look elsewhere. There is nothing worse then waiting for a part to get delivered and you find out it isn't worth a **** and then they charge you a restocking fee on top of paying to have it shipped back. I feel your pain.
