carb linkage
what's involved in disconnecting all the throttle, trans and cruise linkages and reconnecting them when replacing a Q-Jet with another Q-Jet?
what about going from Q-Jet to another type of carb? Holley, Demon, etc.

direct swaps are very easy and straight forward and should not create any problem as long as the carbs are the same....for example a qjet for an auto and a qjet for a 4spd have different linkages on the side of them, so make sure you have a direct swap. switching carbs becomes a little more problematic if the linkages on the carb are not set up for your type of trans........the automatic will need the longer lever for the down shift cable and you may need a different bracket for hooking up the throttle linkage

I know it's a little different, but I replaced the q-jet on my 78 chevy 4x4 with a 4160 holley. Holley sells the throttle cable and kickdown studs. The stock ones have a different thread size and won't work. You may have to get a different cable bracket and maybe cables.
