Default 73 BB Heads

Hi Folks,

Can anyone tell me what these heads could be? I have a 73 454 orange block with blue heads. The car apprears to be mostly original but the colour of the heads have me a little confused. Would the blue heads be a factory replacement, or has someone been tampering?

P.S. I dropped the tank today and found the build sheet.

Pull a valve cover and get the number of the head and we can tell you.

Paint is paint. How knows how they ended up blue? Last spray can on the shelf?

I pulled a valve cover tonight and here are the numbers I found.

From front to back..

B2273, GM10T, PASS, 353049.

The block code is T0223CWM.

If some one can ID the heads, I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks.

I believe those were the heads Chevy had on the '73 corvette BB. Open chamber/oval port (large).

From what I've gathered, they were the best cast iron BB heads GM made. I'm rebuilding a 454 that had 049s on it, and am having the intake/exhaust on them enlarged.

Did these heads change the stock 275 HP rating?

They are a part of the stock 275hp rating, which was the cumulative result of a whole lot of "fun" added to the emissions party.
