Can anybody provide me with where I can find detail instructuions on this? I need to replace the speakers and have tried to do this twice now. I cannot get the pad to come off . It gets loose but won't release. I have removed the screws under the lip of dash and the 3 next to the windshield wipers and one on each side of the dasd just below the the dash pad itself. Am I missing something?

Underneath ... there is a steel bracket that holds front edge about
1/3 way in from passenger end. I recall one screw into the bottom of the dash.
After that, you must have the vertical pillar trim off and the dash should
be able to come out.
Here is a pic ... see the rusted bracket in the bottom/right corner of the pic ...

The other replies show you where the pad screws are. Here's a little detail to use on the speakers before you put them under the dash pad:
<<PANTYHOSE>>
Not to be cute, but ...
One pair (heck, one leg is all you need ...) is enough to wrap hose around each speaker. It keeps dust and bugs out of the speakers that face upwards.
Pantyhose is good to use on the speakers not only because it's transparent to sound and easy to get, but also it's very effective in keeping crap from rattling in the speakers.
Good luck. Bend the dash pad verrrrry CAREFULLY to get it out from under the windshield. And when you replace it, be sure to use just as much caution when you bend it to place it where it needs to go.
thanks guys. I like the kickpanel idea. gonna check it out. Panyhose??? sounds good(pun intended)
Thanks for the picture. If I don't do the kick panel Idea it's back to removing it
I just printed the instructions a few minutes ago. Great website. Added it to my favorites also. That's a cool service you providefor vette owners. Tips and all. Can't wait to start restoreing the vette. I'll be sending you lots of money!
Why not kick panels and dash ??? In fact, how about tiny tweeters in the upper corners of the windshield and 2 - 6x9's way in the back and then a sub in the right side storage area with the amp on the back wall ???
worked in my 77, sounds awesome, now if I could just finish getting in the LS1 maybe I could listen to it again ....
Frank, How big of a sub do you have in there? Is the lid still there or did you remove it? I have a 10 in the closet I've been trying to figure out where to put it. Iv'e also looked into the 6x9's. I'm still trying to figure out a setup for the car. Any tips would greatly appreciated.
