Default help with motor VIN

looking at a motor on friday and he tells me it is a 283 or a 327 the vin is k0701gmc, the block casting is 3970010, I think it is a 350 from a 79 lemans but you guys seem to have more resources than I, so any input is appreciated

3970010 302 1969 Camaro Z/28 - 4 bolt main bearings
3970010 327 1969 2 bolt main bearings - trucks
3970010 350 1969 - 80 2 or 4 bolt main bearings

The suffix code on the VIN doesn't seem right. I can't find anything on a GMC.

I suspect that the engine code is actually K0701CMC. That would be one of the following:

1974 350ci 145hp 2bbl,3 speed in a Chevelle, Nova,Camaro,Monte Carlo.

1978 350ci 2bbl,Police,Taxi,auto trans in a full size passenger car.

1980 305ci 155hp 4bbl in a Malibu or Monte carlo.

My bet would be the 1974 engine, since I think that the 010 block was still in use in 1974. The engine foundry for this block was St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada (the beginning K).
