I just got the body off of my 74 coupe. I need to strip a few more things off and I'll hve it down to the frame.
Once I do, what is the best method to restore the frame?
I have seen some people use a media blaster and do it themselves. I would also assume you can take it to a frame shop and they can dip it or use some other method.
From: the land of a never ending frame-off resto-mod. May Visa have mercy on my soul.
I am in the middle of a frame off on my 80. It is smarter and easier for you to find a sandblast shop in your area to strip the frame. If you want to do it at home you will need a LARGE air capacity air compressor as the 20gal won't do it and you will have an incredible mess on your hands afterwards. For the 350.00 I paid it was a very thourgh job and ready for paint.
First I beat the seams and other rusty spots where dipping wont get to it-then I have it acid dipped because its close to home and its only $250-then I weld any bad spots-then I paint it-then I take it to Ziebart and have them spray the inside with their "amber colored" rust proofer $95(some call it bees wax but its not)
