Can anyone tell me how to determine if I have a early or late model 76?

Thanks
Bill

Post your VIN. "Early" and "Late" typically apply only to running changes made during the model year. To further confuse matters, "early" and "late" can refer to more than one calendar date during the production run.

To muddy the waters a little more, sometimes you have to take early or late dependant items on a individual basis. If the factory was in the middle of the change over, they'd clean out the parts in the bins before switching over. I got into the early or late issue with my radiator mount and fan shroud.

I got a thread running here:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1386200

You can check your VIN against the list and find out whether your car's early, late, or somewhere in between.

If you post your VIN at the bottom I'll add it to the list of '76s that forum members have posted.

The 3 most prominant changes are;...

Early 76 had rear view mirror mounted to roof line. Late 76 had mirror glued to windshield.

Early 76 had the smaller "CORVETTE" letters recessesd into thee rear bumper. Late 76 had a larger "CORVETTE" script that was not recessed.

Early 76 had interior light mounted only in floor board area and very rear compartment. Late 76 had a roof mounted interior light in the middle of the T-Top bar added.

Other issues of change were the radiator support and the deluxe door panel trim changed.

My car, built in May 76, has the late rear badge and late rad frame/shroud, but the early interior mirror, no overhead courtesy light. It's a mixture. There's no clear date for a switch.
