Default Torque Thrust Ds

I'm exchanging email with an online dealer who is saying that TTDs may or may not fit. He indicated that some folks have run into clearance problems with the brake calipers. He says the TT IIs work fine. Anyone have any problems with TTDs? I'm considering both 15s and 16s.

Thanks

Do an "archives" search (found under "Advanced Search") for "Torque Thrust D" - some people have indeed had fitment problems with the newer Ds. The IIs seem to fit fine.

Everyone I know who has them uses spacers. I did not want to deal with this problem so I went with the TT2s. If I get bored with the polished look, then I will paint the centers.

Have you checked with Vintage Wheel Works? They have a really nice one piece 16" Torque Thrust D style wheel called the V40. I'm using the 17" two piece V40 with 4" backspace and it clears my calipers without spacers.

I have 16x8 TT-D's and they clear the stock calipers ...but not by a lot.

At one time, the Torque Thrusts were not hub centric,..is this still the case? I've been considering the II's but only if they're HC. Good looking wheel!

Bummer. American Racing tech support just emailed me telling me that the TTDs will generally not fit the C3 without spacers.

My D's bolted right on, no apacers, no problems, I did go with the 15 X 7's though.

I called a local American Racing dealer (Discount Tire) and they are gonna do a test fit. The funny thing was the guy called me back and said "I just talked with American Racing tech support and they said there should be no problem with caliper clearance...". Go figure.

The other option I found was to go to NewstalgiaWheel.com and buy a set of TT IIs that have had the center portion painted. They indicated that these fit with no problem. The other cool thing is that these go up to 17" and 18" in case you want a larger diameter...

Funny that I'm so hung-up on this but after seeing the wheels on your cars, I just cannot bring myself to put anything else on it!

newer TTDs 15x6 3 1/2 back space fit my 65 just fine. My understanding is The originals fit without spacers, then the new ones didn't , then about 18-24 months ago the reenginneered the new ones to fit without spacers. again. the C2 section has many threads on it.
