scroll down to about the 6th file on the page called " C2 Birdcage 2.jpg" and click on it.
This is a pic of the birdcage from a C2 coupe. Obviously the birdcage from a C3 will br somewhat different in shape but generally it's still similar and this should explain just what the birdcage is and the support and structure it gives to the car, particularly in the cockpit area.
The birdcage structure includes the windshield frame, support brace under the dash, the door frames, front and rear lower pillars and of course on coupe models the roof frame.
I pull this one out every time the "birdcage" question comes up...
Hey Z-man..I just have two questions. Where the hell did you get that damn thing..and did the bird just happen to fly into the microwave when you were not looking? He's lookin a little charred...

That thing cracks me up...
My wife finds things like that - who knows where?? The laundry room has all kinds of "bird trinkets" and decorations. The "bird" is actually solid metal of some kind.
I've had my Vette all my adult life, and it's only recently that people have started calling the frame around the passengers a "birdcage."

Hey..Like you said...you can pull that trick out every time it gets posted. Just a click away now that it's on your drive...
Personally...I think it should be called a shark cage!
