Default Anyone have a match???

Beginning of story. Vette has been down since Memorial day. Everything is finally put back together and the car is somewhat tuned. I put a performer rpm intake on the new 350/330 motor with vortec heads and does the hood clear? Oh hell no!!! I have a pre '80 hood with the low rise, but it hits on the choke tower. I just went to install it tonight and thats what I get. I'm sick as a dog (literally) and instead of screaming at everything around me this seemed a more appropriate place to vent. This car has beat me down and then some. If it wasn't a Vette, I think I'd throw a match to it about right now!!!!!

Well, it looks like I vented too soon. Turns out my newly reshimed hood latch was off by a bit and wouldn't go down in the latch. The way I found out was by the piece of foam I placed over the carb blew off with the hood closed on top of it when I started it to pull it in the garage. Got me to using what few brain cells I have left. At least I don't have to order a new intake.

Throw out the matches and vent here. I know everyone here would hate to see a nice car get torched

Glad to see it worked out for you. It will serve as a cheap lesson. High rise hoods aren't cheap and then you have to get them painted.

If you modify make sure that the mods fit or what the consequences are when they don't fit.

Man, it did real well! Ran flawlessly on the interstate and in town. The only real issue was the squeaking belt. A trip to the autozone is due today. When I really got on it the belt would scream for mercy. On I-75 that thing would roll on. I can't imagine how good it would be with an overdrive. The flowmasters were talkin to me!! I'm going to try and post a few pics later today.
