VBP 460lb springs with a coil cut per spring
KYB shocks (all the way around)
Stock steel leaf
The car rides really nice on FLAT ROADS, unfortunatley, I'm in the northeast where plows leave potholes in their wake, the towns cut into the street to connect new homes to public water systems and the new pavement shrinks giving it a concave dip in the road.
The problem that lays is, it feels like the *** end of the car has no travel at all, I go over a bump and the rear feels like its going to shoot up in the air. I didnt have this problem till after I put the KYBs on, it rode fairly well with whatever I had on before (no name cheapies)
Do I swap the kybs out or is there something with my spring thats freezing up?
Some shock rear spring combo's can cause that...I'm running Bilstein Sports/new 7 leaf and hitting bumps at speed not an issue..very stable..but harsh...bet your rear suspension is stiff like mine..

You've got a definate imbalance between your front and rear spring rates. Ditch that stock steel POS and get a good composite spring in the 330#-360# range.
According to my info, the base suspension springs were 280 front and 140 rear. If you're using the new 460 coils with the 35 year old steel spring, I'm not surprised your handling is a bit weird. My 77 only has 85k miles on it and the spring was totally dead.
My combo:
460# coils cut 1/2 coil.
340# TRW rear spring
KYB GR-2 shocks
255-60R15 tires.
Not too bad on the roads but I do try to avoid the bigger bumps. I can really feel the cobblestones in downtown Newport and the bumps going over the bridge. Still, even my Avalanche hates that road. LOL.
