I pulled the front & rear bumper covers off my '78 today.. How in the world can it be possible for every single bolt and screw to be rusted into place! I restored a '65 F100 and a '67 MG convertible that combined had less rusted bolts than these two bumpers. They certainly did not make them easy to get either...
I ordered new fiberglass covers that should be here next week... I would reall appreciate any tips on fitting these things so I can get them installed before retirement.
Same thing happened to me. Removed the front bumper and valance on my 79 last summer, every single fastener just snapped off. I fully expect the rear bumper to be the same when I take it off next year.
But Corvettes are fiberglass and they don't rust, right??
It's amazing just how rusty they were. I have all of the panels out if the interior and been under and around the car and can not find any other rusty places... Just every fastner on the bumpers... . Also, What is up with trailer hitches on Corvettes????

The trailer hitch is for pulling the wife's luggage cart!
