Default light switch hot

I Have A 73 L48,ac,auto And My **** Is Gone On The Light Switch. My Concern Is That When The Headlights Are On For
Awhile I Can Not Hold On To The Switch Rod Because It Will Burn My Fingers. This Is No Joke. It Has Been Doing It Ever Since I Purchased It In Jan 06. Is This Normal Or Should I
Concerned? Should I Look At Changing The Swich Out? Has Anyone Had This Problem Or Is It Normal? I Know If The **** Was On I Would Not Have Ever Noticed It. Please Advise.

Be concerned. The switch should not be hot unless there is a short or some other excessive current draw. To much draw leads to melting wires, dash fires, etc.

Yep. Be very concerned. Replace the switch.

Check out the RELAY thread in the Tech section. If you go that route, you will eliminate the major current flow through the headlight switch and may not have to deal with the switch at all. Don't get me wrong, I'd say the contacts on the switch are probably quite worn, but with minimal current flow, it won't be an issue until the switch just won;t work anymore. The heat (and danger) will probably go away.
