in my '69 Vette with L68-motor (427/400) I use AC-Delco spark plugs (R43XL as I remember).
Now I guess, wether there are better alternatives for these plugs, probably as platinium-plugs or something else - which guarantee a performance at least as good as the AC-Delco plugs.
Has anyone of you made any expieriences with alternative plugs? Is there any "certified" recommendation for such plugs?
I forgot to say, that I've disfunctioned the K66 transistorized ignition and replaced it with another breakerless system (no high-voltage).
My plan was to replace the copper-lined plugs with platinum substitutes. So I want to know, wether there are platinum-plugs wich I can use as replacement.
The problem with most platinum plugs in carberated applications is they tend to fuel foul easy. Not a problem with EFI engines but something easy to do with a carb engine. I tend to like to keep fairly close tabs on my engine and do a yearly plug change on the vettes as part of their normal maintenance, and it gives me a chance to catch some problems early before they become a big problem (too rich, too lean, oil control issues). So I recommend sticking with your regular copper plugs. I've run A/C's and NGK's on my big blocks without any issues.
