I've driven my 75 for about 600 miles since I got it. Everytime I park it there is fluid underneath the gear box. I think they put power steering fluid in it. Two nights ago I check the master cylinder, front tank full to the brim, back tank a little over 3/4 full so I didn't think much about it. Tonight I pulled it out went to church and came back. Front left brake squeeled some when backing out. When I came home I found a spot in the driveway where the car had dumped something when I left. I don't know if it was power steering fluid or brake fluid. I check the master cylinder and the rear tank was nearly empty. Brakes didn't feel any different. The reason I brought up the gear box is that is the only thing I can find leaking. The master cylinder is dry as a bone on the outside and no signs of a leak around the tires. Is there a spot the brake lines could rub under the body holding brake fluid in the frame until I move?
...Everytime I park it there is fluid underneath the gear box...
Front seal on the tranny. Might be something as simple as loose pan bolts.
...car had dumped something when I left...
Instead of "dumping," it probably leaked while the car sat.
...I check the master cylinder and the rear tank was nearly empty...
You have a leak in the brake system, probably one or both of the rear calipers. Calipers can leak fluid slowly without evidence of a puddle in the driveway or visible brake fluid on tires/wheels. At the point where you see brake fluid, you've got a big leak.
...Is there a spot the brake lines could rub under the body holding brake fluid in the frame until I move?
All brake line run outside the frame and do not pass through it. It isn't likely brake fluid is accumulating in the frame.
Thanks for the help. I refilled the master cylinder but haven't driven it yet. The reason I say it dumped is because the oil spill was about 20 feet from the driveway from where the car is parked in the garage. And I should have said steering gear box. That is what is leaking and that's the only thing I found leaking. I was thinking out loud while writing. I was trying to figure out if I had found more steering fluid from the gear box (they filled it with fluid and not grease) or if that is where the brake fluid went. Whatever leaked on the brake system leaked fast. One night the master cylinder was full took it a couple of blocks to church then home, and the rear part was empty. onaqwst got me thinking, I checked the fluid the night before and I wonder if I somehow didn't put the lid on good and it sloshed out. Seems feesible except if it sloshed out of the top it would have been all over the master cylinder. I don't know I'll keep checking it out. Thanks

Question ?
Thought Tranny & power steering fluid was "RED"and brake fluid was clear ? not being a wise guy, just asking ? wouldnt that help ?
curious........ZIXXXPACKER
If power steering fluid is red then someone filled my entire power steering components with brake fluid because it isn't red. I've never had to mess with power steering fluid so I don't know.

"Power Steering Fluid
Power steering fluid is generally red, although some vehicle manufacturers may use a fluid that is almost clear or amber. The power steering reservoir is typically mounting with the power steering pump driven by a belt on the engine. Leaks generally occur within the power steering lines. "

May not be true for our cars but no telling what someone bought and put into it.
so if i am correct & power steering fluid is in fact red then you know your brakes are not leaking as all brake fluid i have seen is clear, so it's tranny or steering............best of luck.<<<<<<ZIXXX PACKER >>>>
GM power steering fluid is clear, and so is brake fluid when it is new. Brake fluid typically has a noticable smell that power steering fluid doesn't have, at least the prestone synthetic I've been using does.
Sounds like you have a brake fluid leak for sure, but how is your power steering fluid level? There isn't a whole lot of fluid in the system, so if there was as much as you say on the ground you should notice the reservoir level being low.
Everything I have found on the ground is clear. One this is for sure the steering gear box is leaking fluid. I cannot find where the brakes are leaking but they are leaking. One night there is fluid in the mc the next night there is not.
