Default head change help???

I am in the process of changing the heads on my 79 vette. I could not get the coolant drain plug to budget on the engine block above oil pan on driver’s side. I used penetrating oil let it sit for a day and still no luck. I drained as much coolant as I could from the bottom of radiator. Will this get level low enough to pull heads? What happens if some coolant gets on cylinder head, any other ways to drain coolant? I drained oil as well.

With the water pump off, you can fish a plastic tube down the cavity and siphon out to lower the level below the heads.

Completely draining the radiator will be fine. What do you mean if coolant gets on the head? There are coolant ports at the front and rear of each head. If some coolant gets on the deck of the block or in a cylinder, dry it off. Use a solvent to wipe down the deck and bottom of the heads to remove any oil. Then, put on your new heads.

thanks for the help, yes I meant the cylinder. I was not certain what to do if coolant leaked out into cylinder, if I could just wipe it off. Looks like I can. Thanks again.
