Default Glove box lock

How on earth do I go about removing the locking mechanism from the glove box door??

I am thinking that you need to put the key in the lock to depress the tumblers and then right next to the nut that fastens the 2 pieces together you will see a sort of tumbler looking thing (there is a sort of slot right there) and push that down with a paper clip or similar thing and the cylinder should come out. OK its easier for me if I'm looking at it -open the door push the lock cam to the lock position and hold -at the base is a slot-in the slot is a tab -push it in with paper clip-slide out lock cylinder-unsrew outer flange -------(if this doesnt work then change the first step to hold lock cam in open position)edit after reading moosie's-I think depress the tab then slide key in and that will hold the tab in so you can remove lock--I think !!
