Default Puff the Magic Dragon
When the '72 sits for couple of days and I start it up, there is a bit of smoking. Long time ago I heard that it was oil that had leaked thru the the valves, accumulating in the cylinders, and firing up first thing upon starting. If that is it, could the fix be painless on this 350 auto. Like valve seats or something like that? It's not that bigga deal I guess, just that it looks bad..............Stupid '01 Northstar does the same thing periodically.........

Does the Northstar also exhibit cold start knock?

Puff the Magic Dragon? That's an AC-47.

sounds like a classic case of worn valve seals to me.
easily replaced on the engine.
