Howdy Ya'll,

I just made my 1st steps to owning my first Corvette. After a even trade of my Harley Ultra Classic (2005) I proudly and excitedly take ownership of a 1977 Corvette (white/tan interior) in prestine condition. It has an L48 engine that I plan to increase over the winter.

My question: Is there anything I should know about regular maintenance and driving during the winter or rain? I really would like to know your personal experiences specifically when you first got into your Corvette. I am very excited because this will be the first time I have ever got my hands dirty with a car and the first time I will be doing any kind of mechanical work. Thanks for all of your input ahead of time.

- Marc

The cheapest '05 Ultra Classics on E-Bay are going for $18k plus...

You bought a 29 year old car. No matter what shape it is in prepare for repairs. Did you get a good deal, hard to say without seeing the condition of the car. Prepare to get your hands real dirty. When you get into a project itwill take you twice as long and 3 times the money and you will end up fixing 3 more things along the way. Good luck and have fun with it.

Congratulations on owning your first Corvette.
As you begin to do things on the car, I would suggest you post on this forum so that you can take advantage of the experience of many here who have gone before you down this road and can perhaps save you much grief, aggravation , and especially money by providing some good advice on whatever project you are working on. You may as well learn from our mistakes.
I heard a quote once, "A wise man learns from another's mistake, a fool must learn from his own".
There are many good people here who will be glad to help with any questions or issues you may have so use this resource to your benefit.
Welcome to Corvette ownership and to one of the best Corvette forums on the internet.
Good luck, and enjoy
Kurt
