74 coil spring
Why does the front right coil spring on my 74 Vert LS4 have a little green tag on it, which says ... ME 031318 ????
The left side has a tag also, but I havent recorded the info yet.

...that tag represents the "broadcast code" that the assembly worker used to select the springs for your car once he saw what options, motor, transmission, performance suspension, etc. that your car was to be built with as it was coming down the assembly line.
...virtually every part that "could have been" different depending upon the options/motor the car was to receive, such as carb, steering box, transmission, alternator, radiator, mastercylinder, shocks, distributor, front springs, rear spring, rear end, etc. had either a broadcast code with either a tag/label or an ink stamp.
...that's what's pretty neat in judging these super low mile cars such as '78 Pace Cars or '82 Collector Editions...you see numbers and tags that don't normally get seen or appear on driven cars. The tags get weathered or the water soluble glue eventually lets the tag merely fall off.
