Default Chrome help

I need a couple piece rechromed. I have no idea what this entails and what the prices usually are.

I need the rear license plate bezel and the two rear bumper pieces of my 72 done. The bezel has some bubbling and the bumpers look ok, cept they've got that cracking look to them where it seems like it's got tons of fine scratches in them.

What would those pieces cost to get done? The rest of the chrome is in great shape.

Also, does anyone in the Colorado Springs/Denver location know of a good chrome shop?

Thanks
Chris

thats exactly what im getting rechromed, the place i go to wants 250 for the rear bumpers, im also bringing in the license plate benzel and the radiator fan, probably will cost around 350 to 400 which is cheap , i heard guys spending 500 to 600 for the bumpers alone

Where are you getting it done? $250 sounds pretty reasonable, since new repro's are 250 per side.

Repro of the bezel is around 100 bucks or so, so it may or may not be worth having done.

I should have mentioned I don't need triple dipped, ultra high class super show quality. Just something that looks more or less like it did from the factory. All of the other chrome is really good, not needing replacement or re-dipping, but I don't want to get the rears back and have the rest look bad all of a sudden.

Thanks
Chris

Had my 71' Rear bumpers replated by A.C.Plating in Bakersfield CA for $150 each in 2003. 2 week turn around and look great. There was no pitting on my bumpers, so it was an easy replate. Cost may be higher if more prep work is required. They also replated the 4 seat brackets for 28 bucks each.

www.ac-plating.com send them a picture and they will return a quote.

Cool, thanks. I don't mind sending them off, especially with winter coming. I don't think they need much prep work, but I don't know what goes into chroming. There's no pitting at all on the bumpers(just on the bezel), but the have that fine cracking look to them. Almost like they have super fine scratches on them.

Thanks
Chris

I just had two sets of rear bumpers (4 pieces), the two front bumperettes and the front bumper on my 72 re chromed for $450 even. The guy is local and does a lot of the chroming for those motorcycle shows. I caught him on a good day.

I'd really prefer to have it done locally or in the Denver area. I don't want to have to go through the trouble of packing them up and shipping them out.

But if it's a choice between 200 or so and 500 for new pieces, then I'll find a box for them....
