Welcome,

How long is the driving season up there - i.e. when are the first and last salts countering winter weather put down on the streets?

Well, we usually get snow by the third week in Oct. and its pretty much gone by May! lol. They quit using salt on the roads, now they use uria. The same stuff the Air Force uses on their runways. (btw, I'm a retired Weapons troop ). Rust isn't a major problem, but needless to say, my vette spends most of its time in the garage. Its a summer only toy. The good news is it stays daylight in the summer nearly all the time. Anyway, thank you all for the warm welcome. I'm very happy to be here!

Pretty much. We get a couple hours of daylight in early afternoon, then its dark again! I work the graveyard shift, so I'm asleep for the daylight. I almost never get to see it in the winter! But the extreme light/no light situation is only for a couple of months. By Feb./Mar. its not too bad. The guy from Sweden probably knows what I'm talking about.

I live in Eagle River. It's about 10 miles north of Anchorage. It's actually considered part of Anchorage's municipality.
I'd post some pics of my vette if I wasn't so mentally challenged when it comes to computers! lol! If someone wants to guide me though it, i'd be glad to!

You need to open a Photo Bucket account (it’s free) at Photobucket.com
Once you have the account and get your photos in it and copy the IMG line and past it in your post.
